Welcome to my UA-cam channel.
One of my main areas of interest is salvaging and preserving important moments in the history of bluegrass music. This rather large undertaking includes digitizing historic concert footage and audio recordings , collecting eyewitness accounts by interviewing various people in the industry - artists, promoters, fans, sound engineers, teachers, luthiers etc.
Over the last 30 years I’ve accumulated a substantial collection of VHS tapes of mostly bluegrass related content from countless different sources. These tapes are now deteriorating gradually and need to be salvaged. I share only footage/audio that is not available on the internet.
If you would like to support my efforts you can do so by going to the link below and check out my Patreon page.

Carlton Haney - Bass Mt BG Festival, Sept 2, 2000
Переглядів 243Місяць тому
It is a sign that you have hit the big bluegrass time when people refer to you by your first name only. Among the old timers we have Del, Earl, Doyle and Doc. Carlton is another name that could be added to the list. Lawrence Carlton Haney (September 19, 1928 - March 16, 2011) was an American booking agent, festival promoter, and songwriter primarily active in bluegrass music. Once dubbed “The P...

Jan, i just ran across this today, 5-18-24, thanks for posting. I don't remember hearing this great ensemble at the birchmere before. This is great! I loved everyone of these ole boys. Those were good times for bluegrass. How i miss it. Thanks, kt
Smooth
I also love, love this song by Lorrie Morgan and I'm 72 years old and I'm still listening to both of them .❤🎉😢🇺🇸💔🙏🏻👍🏻⚡🌠💙💫💝💯💦🎶🎵🌈☔☔👼🏻🔥🎵🌈🌝🌞🌞🌜🌍
Doc and Merle are two Stellar examples of not appreciating what we have before it's gone. Doc left behind shoes too big to ever be filled.
So true bro I’m reading this In Ireland under a tree because it starting to rain .. I love doc and play his tunes when I get the chance and merle was a wonderful guitarist and Richard rip to them all ., be well friend cheers from Ireland 🇮🇪.. Brian .... it’s funny the way we comment here and never know who ur talking to it’s a weird world🎸🎸
Great picker and singer and has a tight band wish I could have been there. Thanks man
I love how much fun the folks on The Porter Wagoner show had. What can I say about Mr. Bill Monroe that hasn't already been said? Thanks for this great post! I wish THIS were what was on TV these days.
Thanks for sharing Jan! Sonny was playing his a** off and of course they were singing out of this world as usual.
Today is May 14, 2024. John Duffey, John Starling, Mike Aldridge, Ben Eldridge have all passed on. (RIP)
Yes, that is the sad truth... They brought us a lot of great music...
U were the best george❤debbie I ❤you
Love u❤debbie
So fortunate that this historic event was captured. This is as good as it gets! Every single one of these musicians has changed and influenced the course of bluegrass for generations to come.
Too bad, no playlist
How about showing some appreciation for what I uploaded?
@@JanJohanssonmusic It's OK to admit that you're too lazy to do any more than to simply upload video. I DID give you a like for that, but you're competing with more than a few uploads of SG. Pat yourself on the back, there's a good boy...
THAT IS THE REAL DEAL - -NO AMPLIFIERS - ANDRES SEGOVIA and DJANGO REINHARDT had no problem at all - - YOU HAVE TO JUST PLAY THE INSTRUMENT KNOWN AS THE GUITAR AS IT WAS DESIGNED TO BE -GOD BLESS -TONY RICE - AND NORMAN BLAKE -
RIP Jim Mills... 5/5/2024
CW with great friends!!
WHAT A LINE - UP of fantastic musicians - It is amazing what they can do over simple chord changes - Virtuoso improvisations !
Wow! Thanks!
Welcome!
Did anyone notice the cat eye moment 22:25 ? im enjoying listening to this but whats up with the reptile vertical split eye?
Jan vilken blomprakt ..Tack för musiken Lena o Gunnar
I really think Scotty Stonemans's version is one of the greatest things ever played by human hands.
Terrific find. Several songs this old Kentucky Colonels fan had not heard them do. Always appreciate your posts!
Sadly, your time here on earth came to its end, James. You accomplished more in a lifetime than many others, including myself, in many lifetimes. Thank you for it all.
now do Brudmarsch från Delsbo
I wonder if this was before or after Gail Davies.
I saw them at the Birmingham Boutwell Auditorium in 1975 with Vassar. It was a better show than this. I was a teen banjo picker at the time, I would never have had a banjo if not for Earl Style. My dad bought my first banjo, age 11.
they will never be equaled.
Matt Mundy! Such a great mandolin player...not much out there with him, thank you brother...
The Unknown drummer could have possibly been a Drummer from Lexington KY named Jimmy Klug. I played with Jimmy for several years from 1989-1991 in a band called Uncle Lijah, who was house band at the Dixieland Nightclub in Winchester. Jimmy used to tell me story's about playing with JD and all the wild times they had at festivals in the early 1970s. He always said playing with Crowe was were he really learned to use brushes on a snare. Jimmy was a solid drummer too....I think he had a built in metronome. Lol!
❤❤❤👍
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
A soul searching interview.I learned a lot about life from those conversations.
In “Goodbye Old Pal”, Earl does about the same lick on the banjo as Foggy Mountain Breakdown.
With Season 15 of Austin City Limits in 1990, Austin City Limits celebrated its 15th anniversary on PBS.👍
i like doc watson very. nice guy ever. god bless him
Best ever darol anger is spectacular . Love David’s composition and writting
This is what inspired Stuart Duncan to play fiddle
What a save!
around 1:08 in digital noise on my playing before then it sounded good, thanks
Love this sorry he is gone 😂
Thomas Dulah did no such thing. Ann Melton slew Laura Foster out of envy😢
They hung an innocent man
He was an impoverished Confederate Soldier returning home to Wilkes County NC after paying all hell outside Richmond and went through the battle of Shiloh too
Got lost at Chickamauga; surrendered at Vicksburg; lived on rat meat in Olean prison camp; served under half a dozen Rebel officers... Tom Dooley was a Soldier
absolut underbart!!!
Thanks for posting this ❤
